Part of Sydney Harbour National Park and steeped in history from the city’s colonial past, the carefully restored Fort Denison features the only Martello Tower to be built in Australia, and the final one to ever be constructed in the British Empire. Built from 8,000 tonnes of sandstone quarried near Kurraba Point, Neutral Bay, it was named after Sir William Denison, who was the Governor of NSW at the time.
